About Amberley Castle

Set beside the River Arun, Amberley Castle has 12 acres of grounds, tennis court, croquet lawn and an 18-hole putting course.

The spacious guest rooms and suites have deluxe beds, antique furnishings and an en-suite bathroom with luxury toiletries and fluffy bathrobes. Other amenities include flat-screen TV, DVD player, free Wi-Fi, and tea and coffee making facilities.

Garden features include two lakes, a dry moat and gazebo. Guests can also climb the castle ramparts to enjoy stunning views of the surrounding countryside, or relax beside the fire in the library.

Lunch, afternoon tea and dinner menus are available and meal choices are enhanced, more than a little, as a result of the restaurant’s grand 12th-century barrel-vaulted ceiling. Outside there is further icing on the cake with the resident peacocks and alpacas.

Amberley Castle is less than a mile from the Amberley’s Museum and Heritage Centre.

Service can be inconsistent

Although guests tend to comment favourably on the overall customer service, some describe the staff as a little arrogant Furthermore, there are a considerable number of remarks that the waiting staff are slow, even if you have only ordered coffee.

Questionable value for money

A night in Amberley Castle doesn't come cheap and there are more than a few guests who question the value of a stay here There are also a few remarks about the extortionate cost of a bottle of house wine.

Newly refurbished rooms might disappoint

A number of rooms at Amberley Castle have been recently refurbished and not all guests, particularly those who have stayed previously, are entirely impressed It seems that the new modern look doesn't fit well with other aspects of this historic property.
