Positive Reviews

Easy walking distance to shops and restaurants

The hotel is centrally located with many cafes, restaurants and shops being within easy walking distance. A Coles and Woolworth supermarket are within eight-minutes' walk of the hotel. Various attractions including Sovereign Hill, Ballarat Fine Art Gallery, Lake Esmond Botanical Garden and the Gold Museum  are within 20-minutes' walk.

Spacious and well appointed rooms

The rooms are well presented and spacious with plenty of storage space for luggage. The bathrooms are also clean and bright and the queen size beds are comfortable. Guests enjoyed the added convenience of a small kitchen with a fridge, microwave, toaster and a supply of complimentary tea and coffee.

Friendly and helpful staff

The front desk staff were reportedly friendly, helpful and accommodating. Maps of the local area are also provided and staff are able to assist with directions for getting around Ballarat.

Negative Reviews

Proximity to main road makes for a noisy night

Guests reported that the rooms facing the main road were the noisiest due to the constant flow of traffic throughout the night. For a quieter night guests recommend booking a room facing away from the main road.

Narrow car park spaces

Free on-site parking is available, however guests warned that the car spaces are tight. Recreational vehicles such as a caravan or trailer cannot be accommodated and those with larger cars may need to find street parking.

Dated rooms need modernisation

This hotel may not be to everyone's taste and some guests commented that the bedroom area as well as the bathrooms were dated and would benefit from refurbishment.
