Positive Reviews

In the heart of Dunedin

Guests love the convenience of this hotel's location, often commenting on the very short walk to the Dunedin Railway Station, the Octagon, and Cadbury World. Self-catering travellers appreciate the nearby supermarket, and also find many restaurants within easy reach on foot. The pub on the ground floor of the hotel is also a plus; travellers note the atmosphere is quiet and the food is hearty and reasonably priced.

Friendly, hospitable staff

The reception personnel earn high marks for their service, with guests often describing them as kind, friendly, and accommodating.

Clean rooms with the comforts of home

Guests often remark on the older building's handsome exterior, and describe the guest rooms as simple, yet very clean and well maintained. The beds are comfortable, and the water pressure in the showers is good, as well.

Negative Reviews

A high traffic area

Light sleepers note that the hotel is located at a fairly busy intersection, and traffic noise is an issue in front-facing rooms. However, guests also comment that the ear plugs provided are effective and much appreciated.

The lift is a bit dodgy

Guests are a bit wary of the building's lift, noting it is older, rather noisy, and doesn't feel entirely reliable.
