Hotel Red Monkey Lodge (Zanzibar City, Tanzania)

Red Monkey Lodge is a cozy small beach lodge with only 14 rooms, restaurant and bar, located in Jambiani on the wonderful southeast coast of Zanzibar. The Lodge is the realization of a life time dream and intends to be a non pretentious and laid back location for holidays, while offering high level service to spoil our guests. Keywords are: barefoot, informal, cozy, water sports and great food & drinks. Completely restructured in autumn of 2010 (and again refurbished in May 2013), this cozy lodge is positioned right on the sandy beach next to a small tropical forest which is home of the red Colobus monkeys, that give the name to the lodge. In front of Red Monkey Lodge there is a 2 km long sandbank that reaches from the beach far out into the water, and about 2 km away from shore there is the barrier reef. The Red Monkey Lodge wants to be an antithesis to mass tourism by being integrated with the village of which we are part, rather than offering a golden cage for tourists. If you are looking for plasma screens, animation programs and a beach reserved to tourists this will probably not be the right place for you!
