Positive Reviews

Nice location near Hadrians Wall

If your objective is to visit historical Vindolanda, Hadrians Wall and spend some time exploring the many sites in this area, these cottages provide a great central location for walking, bike riding or horseback riding.

A good hotel for dogs and horses

This hotel not just accommodates pets, but welcomes them For travellers whose pets are like family, this is a real plus As well as pets, horses are welcome here and some guests come with their horses A number of animals live onsite and it’s not unusual for one of the resident cats to join you during your visit.

Clean but basic

The accommodations are spacious, clean and well maintained The beds are comfortable and most rooms have a lovely view The kitchens come well equipped.

Negative Reviews

May be chilly in inclement weather

Some of the rooms have a bit of a draft particularly during winter or a strong wind They don’t seem to have central heating and although the hotel provides space heaters, they are not always enough to keep you toasty.

Rooms a little too basic

If you’re used to some amenities when travelling, you might find this establishment a little disappointing You’ll need to bring along everything you need including your own tea and coffee.

Not good if you don’t like animals

A pet-friendly establishment doesn’t make everyone happy Dogs are welcome both inside and outside the cottages, which a few guests felt was too much The resident cats are, well cat-like, and indifferent to whether or not they are liked or welcome in guest cottages.
