Positive Reviews

Simple, spacious rooms at budget-friendly prices

Budget-conscious guests appreciated the usually competitive room rates at this period property turned town centre hotel, claiming they got fair value for money. Guests often said the rooms were basic but more than satisfactorily clean, comfortable and secure for a stopover. Many reviewers said their rooms were spacious. There was also praise for the high ceilings in many rooms and the cosy beds.

Town centre location near shopping and dining

Travellers loved having Northampton town centre's shops and dining options on the doorstep plus cinemas, bars and bus stops. Furthermore, the hotel was conveniently within easy walking distance of Northampton railway station. Drivers liked the proximity of the M1 and the A45. Access to area attractions, sports venues, golf courses and academic institutions was reportedly straightforward.

Good customer service

There was lots of praise from guests for the professional, welcoming and helpful members of staff, many of whom had useful local knowledge at their disposal.

Negative Reviews

Parking arrangements weren't ideal

It annoyed motorists that, apart from two disabled spaces, there was no on-site parking available. Instead, they could pay to use town centre car parks a short walk away. However, this wasn't always ideal as time limits sometimes applied.

Nuisance noises reported

One drawback of the town centre location was that traffic noise and the sound of late-night revellers could sometimes be heard in selected rooms. Light sleepers also claimed nuisance noise from neighbouring rooms and corridors was occasionally audible.

Claims of flaws in several rooms

Stained bedding, inadequately cleaned carpets and musty smells were among the cleanliness issues faced by guests in certain rooms, while maintenance grumbles focussed on dim lighting, bathrooms requiring modernization and low water pressure in the showers. Some critics also said they struggled to regulate the room temperature properly.
