About Hotel The Slipway

Port Isaac is a harbour-side village full of Cornish character, and Hotel The Slipway hotel stands in the heart of it.

There are ten en-suite guest rooms (including several suites), many with sea views and all with white cotton bed linen, fluffy bath towels, coffee and tea making facilities and local artwork on the walls.

Hotel The Slipway dates back to 1527 and has been a hotel since the mid-twentieth century. Many original features remain with exposed beams, panelling and stonework seen throughout the building. There is also a residents lounge and free Wi-Fi throughout.

The galleried restaurant with a terrace overlooking the harbour specialises in fresh, locally caught seafood, while the bar serves real ales and ciders.

The National Maritime Museum in Falmouth, St Ives Tate Gallery and the Eden Project are nearby and there are also dozens of beaches and miles of coastal paths within easy reach.

Positive Reviews

Rest and relaxation.

Many reviewers thought The Slipway was the perfect spot to relax; you can enjoy a drink and people-watch from the terrace, indulge in a hearty cooked breakfast and, if you opt for a certain room, can fall asleep to the sounds of the waves lapping at the h

Meet the locals.

The hotel bar, in particular, is equally as popular with locals as it is with guests; incredible when you consider how many options there are in the vicinity. This is a real perk for guests; get chatting to the friendly locals and, just perhaps, get recom

Cornish influences.

The Slipway is clearly proud to be Cornish as much of the produce and products used at the hotel are sourced from the County; from the real ales, ciders and the lobster and crab caught nearby, to the toiletries in the rooms from the local herbery.

Negative Reviews

Some guests have stated that the hotel could do with re-decoration in places. There are also suggestions that, while the bar area has been refurbished, it now seems to be lacking the charm that the rest of the hotel exudes, with many of the original chara

No parking.

One issue that may be a concern to some is accessibility. Port Isaac is, more or less, car-free so, while you can pull up outside to drop your luggage, the nearest parking is reportedly a 400 yard walk uphill.

Some housekeeping issues.

Unfortunately feathered visitors cannot be avoided so close to a fishing harbour however, some reviewers have suggested that hotel housekeeping could do more to remove what the seagulls leave behind on the windows.
