Positive Reviews

Great central location close to city attractions.

Vulcan is less than 15 minutes' walk from Central Station, so no matter where it is in Sydney you want to go you can quickly find the public transport link you need. You're also just 20 minutes' walk from the tourist attractions of Darling Harbour.

Good value for money in Sydney.

Finding a reasonably priced hotel close to the centre of Sydney is no easy job, but this hotel manages to keep its rates affordable while still offering a premium spot in the city.

Happy and friendly staff do their best to help.

The people working here always seem to be cheerful and relaxed, which really creates a nice laid-back atmosphere. If there is anything you need they are always ready for your request whatever time it is.

Negative Reviews

Sound travels through this hotel.

Whether it's other hotel guests making noise on their way in or traffic out on the streets, you may find yourself disturbed when trying to rest. This place really needs to be soundproofed properly so that everyone can have a peaceful stay.

Actually quite an old hotel and a bit smelly.

This hotel claims to have revamped itself and is rebadged as boutique, but in reality this is actually a rather shabby hotel with small rooms. Some of the rooms also have a rather odd smell, likely a bad air freshener, and they could be cleaner too.

The car parking here is a tad inconvenient.

There is no actual car parking on or even that close to Vulcan. The hotel advertises that car parking is available, however this facility is off-site and much of the area surrounding the hotel is one way. You might end up driving around in circles.
