It's an easy walk to the main streets; shops, bars, markets and restaurants. You can also walk with ease (*absolute maximum: 30 minutes) to a number of popular tourist sites such as Kyoto's Tower and the Imperial Palace. The subway is one block away, it's a similar distance to the shopping centre and it's a three-block walk to a major bus stop.
The room is clean, spotless, in fact and it includes many little extras, designed to make the stay enjoyable and stress-free. Rooms include those thoughtful ‘little extras' such as slippers, toothbrush, toothpaste, razors, shower gel, conditioner and shampoo. All the things, in fact, that you forgot to pack! You may find, initially, that some of these things are missing but, just ask and they'll provide them ... free.
They've tried to think of everything as instanced by the fact that, should you need it, there's a microwave in the public area. There's also a currency/coin machine - and you'll need plenty of coin/change if you are planning on using public transport. Staff members are cheerful, helpful, polite and very efficient.
Nothing to do with the quality or the content but, for the westerner, the prospect of breakfast consisting of Japanese delicacies makes you yearn for a greasy bacon sandwich. The green tea is OK though and a good item for the shopping list back home.
Once you've unpacked, the room doesn't have much space for you to store unwanted luggage.
Many members of staff just don't speak English. Also, whilst they supply you with maps etc; the directions are in Japanese.
