Hotel Quickenberry Guesthouse (Methven, New Zealand)

Quickenberry Guesthouse is a small lodge in the foothills of Canterbury close to Mt Hutt and Lake Coleridge. The area offers a lot to outdoor enthusiasts. There are many walks all around and skiing is available at Mt Hutt and Mt. Olympus. The lodge is close to a golf course and is surrounded by rolling hills and mountains with views from all bedrooms and the lounge. Sheep and cattle are grazing right across the lawns. It is a quiet location and peaceful. Its rural outlook is typical of New Zealand with high mountains as backdrop covered in snow during winter. There are no hordes of tourists so the guests of the lodge have it all to themselves. Yet it provides all the modern conveniences like on-suite bathrooms, comfortable bedrooms, a lounge, library and a dining room where Christine and Robert serve each night a delicious four course dinner with a selection of fine wines from New Zealand and Australia. The lodge has received many awards over the years the last one being a finalist at the Champion of Canterbury Awards and the Quickenberry Vegetable Cookbook won the title 'Best in the World' at the Gourmand Cookbook competition in 2015. Quickenberry is well worth a visit.
