Perfect spot for family get together. Cozy kitchen area for sitting around the big table chatting, eating and drinking, playing cards. Woodfire heats the room up really well. Great location for accessing medium day walks. Can't believe they still do the whopper chocolate eclairs in Ohakune - they don't seem to have changed in the 20 years since I last had one!

Perfect spot to stay for a ski weekend. Great to be able to bring the dog along.

A great bach with super cozy areas to hang out as a group. Great location and amenities.

Clean and great if you just want to escape the city.

The cottage was just what we were looking for and lived up to its description and photos. What you can't get from the listing is how great the kitchen feels when it's cold out, the fire is going and you have the whole family together there. Reading in one of the rocking chairs next to the roaring fire is time well wasted.

It is a cozy cottage with a nice layout. The fireplaces add to the ambiance of the place.

Three days of solid rain but we were cosy and warm. Open fire was lovely. Trains passing at the doorstep! Handy location just minuites from Ohakune.

Despite the weather we loved our stay even with the trains and rain. The fireplaces made it for us and the old DVDs. Thanks.

We've stayed here for 4 nights, during our ski trip, with my partner and 2.5 yo toddler. I've chosen the house by its authentic look and 2 fire places, and the location right near the railway was a super bonus! Yes, it was waking us up, but it was so cool to see train passing from your bedroom window! My toddler is overexcited about trains now and it was surely highlight of our trip. The house is super cozy, old-fashioned, with so much history and interesting things to read and explore and watch! Thank you for providing such experience and Looking forward to staying again in future!

We had a great time staying here at first we were disappointed with the cleanliness of the property but once we got past that it was a great affordable place to stay

There was enough firewood to make us cozy like home.

Wonderfully laid out and organised, charming and authentic bach. Good communication with the owner and agent led to a great stay. The instructions and information in the bach are helpful and clear, and there are so many nice touches within. We slept very soundly. Easy connection to Ohakune and beyond.

this cottage is so well decked out, we were stoked to see it had a dishwasher which was very handy considering we had 4 adults and 4 children staying in it with 2 other families eating with us for a few lunches and dinners totalling another 4 adults and 6 children. The outside area was perfect for the kids to run around and play.I definitly recommend this cottage as a place to stay.

Cozy cottage

Great cozy place for good value however it is right next to railway tracks where we were woken up multiple times during the night due to very noisy freight trains passing by. It was so loud and rumbling that we initially thought it was an earthquake! The place was also not very clean when we arrived with dirty plates in the cupboard and dog hair found on bedding. Despite cleaning on our departure, we did not appreciate being accused of not cleaning up - particularly for things we had not even touched during our stay!

Very comfortable stay. Close to shops and ski slopes. Un-nervingly (20m) close to the train track, was disturbing the kids sleep.Loved the fire places. Overall a great stay.

Cute, homely cottage

Overall everything was great. Considering the weather was horrendous. I know going off the beaten track and getting offline for a few days doesnt hurt but when theres no wifi so the kids can play games while stuck inside was the hardest part.

I love this property, its lovely and warm, has all you need, a great flat garden for the kids to play and loads of character and charm. We will definitely be back.

Rangataua is a lovely village, lost of walking, biking and skiing. This is a great place for familys

We stayed with our two small children and really enjoyed the house. Heaters in the bedrooms meant they stayed cosy at nighttime and we all enjoyed the wood burner and spacious kitchen. The trains disturbed the baby but the three-year-old slept through the noise! We're happily stay again.

Great winter holiday spot

So easy to communicate with Nick and Mike. Such an adorable and cozy house! Mike had the fire going all ready for us on arrival so the house was warm which was so lovely! So close to ohakune town and super accessible, absolutely loved our time there and the house was just the cherry on top.

The house was awesome, there was alot of character and warm feelings when staying here.The place was warm and quiet (except for the freight trains :D ) and had everything we needed to thoroughly enjoy our stay.The location was close enough to Ohakune and surrounding towns and easy to find.Nothing bad to say about the place and the people.

House has so much character, fitted out needs perfectly. Huge dining table for a group to gather and enjoy a roaring fire. Highly recommend!!

Great place, real bachy feel to it. Good heating with two fires and panel heaters in bedrooms. Perfect as we could have the dog with us who loved the sitting in front of the fire on his bed. Only negative was some frozen pipes in the morning, but they soon cleared up and I couldn't get the freeview to work....probably more my lack of technological skills than anything else, I did manage to get the dvd working though, so we enjoyed an evening of watching the various music dvds on offer.

Handy location- trains passing by might not be for everyone but my son thought it was great and after the initial surprise didn't really bother us. Fire kept us all warm and toasty - pet friendly which is a big + from us - positive experience all round ??

Great cottage for a snow trip. Super warm, comfortable beds, well-appointed kitchen, and an easy drive to the mountain. We'll happily stay again!

Railway cottage is a great place to stay if you like the quirky and 'real Kiwi bach' experience. Wood burner and open fire keep the house lovely and cozy which is what you need after a day on the mountain. Highly recommended!

I would love to stay here again as it is extremely convenient for all mountain and Ohakune activities and was warm and comfy. Great size rooms and perfect for many or few people ! Great weekend.

We loved the house and the area. We only got one day skying due to weather. But the cottage had all we needed to keep us and kids entertained. Hoped to stay again but with good snow conditions :)

Awesome Bach very warm and inviting plenty of room for the kids on the rainy and heaps of board games and toys to keep them busy, the Bach itself had everything apart from the broadband mentioned in the description but will definitely stay there again next year

We had a great winter stay at the cottage. Well equipped with everything we needed, a comfy & cosy bach, loved the fireplaces. Well located a short drive to town. Lovely and peaceful area. Was great that our dog was welcome, he loved it too! Trains are very close and do come past at night - nothing a pair of ear plugs wouldn't fix. Would certainly stay again, well priced.

Easy to reach, close to Ohakune and mountain. Wood burner with plenty of wood, heat panels in bedrooms AND electric blankets on double beds: nice and warm! ??Enough possibility to dry wet gear.Close to railway line, but not too many trains in weekend luckily.

We liked the position of the property. Very private and quiet (apart from the odd train passing, but that was a great novelty :).Everything we needed was supplied. Plenty warm blankets.Plenty firewood for the wood burner and fireplace.Lovely homely cottage atmosphere.

Fabulous warm cottage with wooden floors and a great feel. Love having 2 living rooms, each with a fire place. Love the trains too - all part of the atmosphere of a railway cottage. Also love the semi-rural location with good opportunities for walking. Stayed 10 days this time and that was perfect.

We had a fabulous time doing local walks and bike riders . The Carrot Carnival was on while we were there, good fun and loved all the free carrots. :)
