We chose Tawhiri cottage as a great stopping point on our way to Wellington from Tauranga. From the very beginning the communication from our host, Ross, was outstanding and he was so friendly and welcoming. The accomodation itself was clean and the kitchen was extremely well equipped with everything we needed. Best of all though, was the breathtaking uninterrupted view of Mt Ruapehu from the lounge and back deck!

We all really enjoyed our stay in a lovely house with beautiful views of the mountains. There was lots of room for us all, plenty of hot water, and the beds were very comfy. Thanks Ross! See you next time

Ross was very helpful and was so responsive to all of our messages (both prior to and during our stay) providing us with helpful information for our arrival, checkin and stay. The flat has lots of brochures as well to find cool nearby events. The beds were very comfortable; and the place was clean. Highly recommended property and keen to pursue further bookings!! Five star rating!

Just stayed for one night on way to Wellington, accommodation was very comfortable and perfect location. Heat pump made the whole place nice and warm and the view of the mountain was awesome!

Warm, comfortable and well appointed. The views were also beautifull. However access to the accomodation was difficult and we struggled to get our large suitcases from the parking area across the gap driveway to the entrance.

Waiouru is a lovely town close to the mountain and an easy trip to Ohakune and surrounds. We enjoyed our visit to the war museum, had a 4Square close by for supplies and Ross recommended a couple of great restaurants. Will definitely plan another visit.

A very well appointed modern cottage. The WiFi worked well. The kitchen was well equipped. There was a good supply of towels and soaps in the bathroom. There are views of the mountain from inside and from the deck

Very clean and peaceful location and décor. Feels newish but much more like a settled home than like a commercial hotel. Excellent beds, even the pull-out sofa, with more than enough blankets for winter.
