Kentwell Hall is a moated Tudor stately home which is independently owned by Patrick Phillips and his family. The hall has been restored to its original splendour and has been voted one of the UK’s best tourist attractions. Visitors can tour the house and gardens as well as visit the rare-breeds farm (which specialises in local Suffolk Punch horses as well as breeding a wide range of British animal breeds). The house also hosts a wide range of ‘re-enactments’ of Tudor Life, in which local enthusiasts dress up in authentic costume to show visitors how things used to be. During the second world war the hall was used as a military hospital and this is reflected in the second world war military gatherings with vintage cars and military vehicles. Evening events are held during the summer months and include jazz bands and other concerts. In the run up to Halloween ‘ghost walks’ are available and special events are offered for the Christmas season. The hall is available to corporate guests for Tudor banquets and can also be hired for wedding receptions.
