Der Bahnhof hat täglich 82.000 Besucher bei 300 Zügen zu verzeichnen, von denen rund 17 % reine Besucher sind, die nicht mit den Zügen fahren. Die Station bildet dabei das Tor zur Außenwelt und befindet sich direkt im Herzen Venedigs. Erreichbar ist der Bahnhof neben der Anreise mit dem Zug auch per Bus und Wassertaxi. Vom Marco Polo Airport aus verkehrt ein Shuttlebus alle 20 Minuten.
