Bar and Brewery
Shakespeare Terrace is an excellent restaurant and pub that is worth a visit or two. The bar boasts a lively atmosphere and a large and varied menu of many delicious items. Here, you'll find the classic pub favourites as well as local specialities. With its own brewery onsite, you can also bet they have a nice selection of craft beers.
positive:
City Central
The hotel boasts a fantastic location in the heart of the city. You can reach almost anything in Auckland on foot. The waterfront and the harbour are only a short stroll away, where you can find the city's many great restaurants and trendy shops.
positive:
Minimalist but Modern
Guests appreciated the room's many modern amenities, such as the free and fast Wi-Fi, and the in-room mini-fridge and coffee/tea maker.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Simple Space
The rooms themselves are quite basic and could use minor improvements here and there. Since the space is small, there is no wardrobe nor storage space for personal items - there is only a rail with hangers. Guests say the room is clearly designed for light and short-term travellers. The décor could also use an update, as the rooms look quite dated.
negative:
Room Temperature
There is no air conditioning nor heating in the rooms, which is not unusual in Auckland, as the climate does not really require either one. However, if you're sensitive to temperature changes, you may find yourself uncomfortable in either extreme.

Accessible by Stairs
Packing light is also a good idea because you'll have to climb a few stairs to get to your room. Some rooms are up several flights. Unfortunately, there is no lift onsite.
