This boutique-style hotel in a collection of colonial-era townhouses is set in the lively Kampong Glam district, around two miles from the city centre. Along with its heritage charm, The Sultan wins plaudits for its handy location and friendly staff. Compact rooms with wood floors provide flat-screen TVs and iPod docking stations, as well as mini-fridges and tea/coffee-making facilities. Some rooms feature timber beams and/or separate seating areas. Split-level suites with loft bedrooms are also available. There is a relaxed lounge area as well as a modest outdoor terrace.
