The company has been operating since 1892 and now has a fleet of five modern boats with capacities ranging from 150 to 400 passengers. Three basic cruise routes are offered: the Golden Gate Bay under the bridge and round Alcatraz lasting 1 hour, the 2 hour long California Sunset under the bridge and round Angel Island in the evening, and Bridge 2 Bridge taking in the Golden Gate and Oakland Bay bridges lasting 90 minutes. Private hire is possible, and the USS Potomac (FDR’s former presidential yacht) is available for VIP occasions. A timetable is on the website. The Golden Gate Cruise has 14 departures daily in summer, while the Sunset and Bridge 2 Bridge Cruises have one per day. Tourist commentaries are provided in 12 languages. Refreshments are available on board, and more extensive catering is provided on the Sunset Cruise. The vessels are wheelchair accessible but embarking and disembarking can be difficult at low tide. The company also offers bus tours of the city which depart from the pier.
