Darwin East Point Reserve is a protected area in the suburbs of Darwin on a headland between Fannie Bay beach and the Nightcliff Headland. The reserve protects 200 hectares of land, including 30 hectares of woodland as well as community facilities including safe salt water swimming at Alexander Lake, mangrove board-walk, picnic areas, children’s play parks and barbecue points. East Point has a large resident wallaby population as well as many sea birds, bandicoots, brushtail possums and reptiles. A military museum and remains of WW2 installations (gun emplacements) are also located at the East Point Reserve, commemorating the military importance of the area as the last fortress on Australian ground. At the very end of East Point, Dudley Point has colourful cliffs and is a popular sunset-watching spot with good views over the sea and towards the city.
