Adelaide Botanic Gardens first opened in 1857 with the adjacent Botanic Park being added in 1866. In addition to the various collections and displays, there is a museum of economic botany, some pavilions, palm house, a pond, themed gardens, restaurant and kiosk. With the exception of the Bicentennial Conservatory, for which admission charges apply, entry to all the botanic gardens is free. The gardens open daily at 7.15am on weekdays and 9am on weekends, closing from 5pm depending on the time of year. Free guided walks are available daily at 10.30am except for Christmas Day and Good Friday. The Bicentennial Conservatory opens 10am - 4pm.
