Migration Museum (Adelaide, Australia)

The Migration Museum is located in buildings which date back to around the 1850s. The site was originally used for the education of aboriginal children and then as a destitute asylum until 1918. One of the permanent exhibitions tells the story of the people who lived in this asylum and another tells of the different reasons why people have migrated to Australia over the years. Other permanent exhibitions acknowledge the native Australians and the impact the European settlement had on them. There are also temporary exhibits which change periodically. Entry to the museum is free. Tailored tours and brochures are available for a fee. Opening hours are 10am - 5pm Monday to Friday and 1pm - 5pm weekends and public holidays. It is closed Christmas Day and Good Friday.
